Listen to this with earbuds or headphones. Turn up the volume as high as you can without hurting yourself. Don’t do anything, but listen. You’ll thank me after you experience the pure radicalness that is a Journey concert :)
I actually cried.

I actually cried.
Wait, what’s this I heard in the news about Aerosmith coming to Austin?
Moment 1
I was getting some photos developed at Wal-Mart and decided to browse through the CD section. I found Journey’s “Captured” live album and did not hesitate to buy it.
I went to pay for my photos and the CD, and the checkout lady said:
Lady: This is very nice music.
Me: Thanks. I love them.
Lady: Me too.
Me: They’re actually on tour right now.
Lady: Yes, I know.
She looked like she was in her mid to late 40’s. I’d never met anyone that age (in my town) who was interested in that kind of music, much less keep up with that band! Who knows, maybe she saw them back in the day?
Moment 2
I went to a movie theater and lined up to buy some popcorn. The man working the counter looked at my shirt and said:
Man: Journey, huh?
Me: Oh, yes.
[The following is not verbatim, since I suck at remembering stories and telling them.]
Man: You know, my brother saw them in California. Journey was a four-piece group at the time and opened for another group. They were booed off the stage.
Me: Oh wow, really?
Man: Yep.
He also looked liked he was in his forties, and he was nice and was probably as much of a movie popcorn enthusiast as I am.
I am so happy to have crossed paths with two strangers who showed an appreciation for something I love, and probably love themselves.
Okay, I reeeeeeeally want to go see Journey, ESPECIALLY since I found out that classes don’t start until four days after the concert.
What bugs me is that it’s eight hours away, and that my mom says “Didn’t you just see them?”
Gaaahhh, they’re not spring chickens, so I want to see them as much as I can before they retire or (God forbid) kick the bucket!
…can Journey add another tour date in CENTRAL Texas? I love those guys, but I’d hate to drive 8 hours to see a concert…
Photo I took of the Journey concert I was at last summer. I’m glad my camera could capture their personalities so well. I just wish Jonathan Cain didn’t look so tired during the whole thing :(
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! This is THEM!!!
